| Bio: | I grew up on the Eastern Shore of Maryland, the oldest of 3 kids. I recently earned my PhD in microbiology from UC Berkeley. I live with my partner, ![[info]](http://p-stat.livejournal.com/img/userinfo.gif) bsittler, our daughter, Iris, two cats, and an aquarium full of fish. I've written about Iris's birth, and posted pictures of the birth, and pictures of us at home afterwards.
I'm very interested in sustainable living. I'm vegetarian. I recycle. I try to get around mainly by transit. I vote. I try to find re-usable alternatives for disposable products. This year, I've joined the Riot for Austerity 90% emissions reduction project to reduce our environmental impact to 10% of that of the average American household.
I like cooking, juggling, and playing board games.
